How we collect & rate deals

Every deal on myfinance.lk comes from a public bank page. Here's exactly how, and how often.

Where the data comes from

A background scraper visits each Sri Lankan bank's public credit-card promotions page on a regular schedule, extracts the discount, merchant, eligible cards, validity dates, and terms, and writes them to our database. We don't scrape anything that requires a login or that the bank hasn't already published.

How fresh the data is

The scraper runs daily. The "Updated …" timestamp in the site header reflects the most recent successful write — if it ever falls behind a couple of days, something has broken on our end and we'd like to hear about it.

How we sort and rank

The default sort on /merchants is "Biggest discount" — a numeric extraction of the percent in each offer. You can re-sort by ending-soon, newest, by bank, or by merchant name. We don't apply any hidden weighting and we don't promote particular cards.

What we don't verify

We pull what the bank publishes. We don't independently confirm that a merchant honours the offer in-store, that minimum spends are accurate, or that "select branches" actually applies where you are. Always verify the terms on the bank's own page (linked from every deal) before you swipe.

Mistakes

If you spot a deal we're showing as active that's actually expired — or vice versa — email hello@myfinance.lk. We aim to fix data errors within a working day.
